Faculty of Business

The Faculty of Business is QUT's largest Faculty, attracting over a quarter of the University's enrolments, and is also one of the largest business faculties in Australia. Brisbane Graduate School of Business

The Brisbane Graduate School of Business (BGSB) is responsible for the administration, coordination and delivery of high quality postgraduate coursework programs offered by the Faculty of Business.

DUTY STATEMENT

Purpose of Position

As a member of the Brisbane Graduate School of Business and the wider Faculty of Business, the Postgraduate Student Administration Officer will be responsible for undertaking day to day student administration and associated functions of the School in accordance with the University policies and procedures. The Student Administration Officer position will be responsible for providing student support for the Master of Business suite of programs in Accountancy, Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies, Economics and Finance disciplines.

Organisational Relationships

The position is located in the Brisbane Graduate School of Business within the Faculty of Business, and reports to the Graduate Studies Administration Manager on a day-to-day basis for performance planning and review and workload management. The incumbent will work collaboratively with academic and professional staff within the Faculty and will work cooperatively with all members of the Faculty and across the University. The Postgraduate Student Administration Officer will also liaise with QUT Student Business Services departments and other divisions as appropriate.

Duties include:

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  1. Education, training and/or relevant experience in higher education equivalent to the completion of a degree.
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to deal effectively, tactfully and confidentially with a wide range of people, and an appreciation of various cultural differences in dealing with students.
  3. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations and policies.
  4. Proven written communication skills, including experience in drafting and editing correspondence and reports.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, to meet deadlines and to organise and prioritise workloads.
  6. Demonstrated ability to encourage teamwork and work as a member of team to support continuous improvement in procedures and practices along with a commitment to excellence in client service.
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the use of the Microsoft Office suite and experience with databases and student information systems.
